By passing the twisted wire through the wet clay, a pattern is developed. In the example shown, the piece was first sliced, then expanded from the inside to give it a more organic look. The "breaking" glaze used shows the texture well. Experimenting with how the tool is pulled through the clay can lead to many interesting variations in pattern.
