Designed for cutting tile from slabs of plastic clay, our copper tile cutters are constructed using 16 oz. copper sheet metal, allowing less displacement of the clay and less overall pressure while cutting.

Carbide MultiTrim Tool - $30

The Clay Hog is a trimming knife for the serious student or professional. It has both curving "loop" cutting surfaces and flat profiles which add a degree of precision. The cutters are made from hardened chrome-moly alloy steel and attached to long comfortable aluminium handles.

The idea for this design derives from the Japanese kanna, which combines a corner (which acts like a loop tool) and a flat profile. The Clay Hog comes sharp for aggressive trimming in either a pointed version or one with a squared end.

The traditional choice of Japanese potters, the kanna, is a sharp, multi-sided trimming tool. It includes two corner sections that work much like the familiar "loop" tool, but also has a variety of flat cutting surfaces.

The Japanese use these tools with relatively low rotational speeds and clay relatively soft, which gives the pot that decisively cut look.

It is sized at 15", so you won't be tempted to wrap excess wire around your fingers. Kinking is the main reason for failure in a wire, so we have tried to eliminate this tendancy by making the comfortable handle free to rotate without bending the wire - Available in straight too.
