The traditional choice of Japanese potters, the kanna, is a sharp, multi-sided trimming tool. It includes two corner sections that work much like the familiar "loop" tool, but also has a variety of flat cutting surfaces. One end is larger than the other, so that the end used can be appropriate to the scale of the piece being trimmed. We make these from a quality chro-moly alloy which is hardened and tempered to hold an edge. The Japanese use these tools with relatively low rotational speeds and clay relatively soft, which gives the pot that decisively cut look.
