Fast Slab System: slice & roll

Glide Slab Roller - $72

Features:
Glide Slab RollerThe large 3 1/2" diameter (11" circumference) keeps your knuckles off the table and offers superior clay compression compared to smaller diameter rollers. The robust 1/2" diameter shaft is designed to reduce flexing and gives a solid feel. The acrylic guides, mounted between the handles and roller, allow the user to choose from 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", & 3/8" slabs, just as simple as a twist of the wrist. The 20" working width facilitates rolling in any direction for even clay compression. The wide comfortable handles are easy to clean, and the heavy duty plastic cylinder will not swell or split. The Glide Slab Roller is portable and safe. It won't roll off the table and it won't pinch fingers.

Use:
Slice a rough slab of clay somewhat thicker than desired and place on table. Then, simply roll to the desired thickness. When the guides begin to touch the table, you know you're at the desired thickness. Thin 1/8" slabs may be achieved by using an 18" wide (or narrower), 1/4" thick board to roll the clay on using the 3/8" setting. If the clay is particularly sticky, fabric may be used to prevent sticking to the roller. The leg of an old pair of tights makes a great non-stick cover.

Care:
Do not immerse the roller in water. Clean with a damp sponge or towel. Lightly oil at the blue teflon bushing, if needed.

Acu-Slicer - $44

Acu-SlicerIt's like a giant heavy-duty cheese cutter! Stick the block of clay (up to 12" wide) on your work surface, then quickly cut slabs from the top surface using the roller guide to determine the slab's thickness. The adjustable guide roller's axle serves as a tensioning mechanism to keep the wire taut. The wing nuts on the side secure the relative position of the roller to the wire. An extra wire comes in the handle.
